Clarification
Now that I have your attention I would like to clarify a misconception that some of you got out of the last posting.
Now I understand some folks were angry because they misunderstood and thought we accepted their proposal. First of all that is not how it works! That is not the message I was trying to send.
Now listen carefully this was their counter proposal to what we presented-insulting and demeaning but their counter proposal all the same. We did come back with another proposal and we will not know their response until Monday March 26th. This is how it works not unlike buying a house , a car, or going to a flea market there is haggling, but eventually you come to an agreement
The truth whether or not you can handle it is that coming out and showing your outrage at what they offered and coming out and showing support for this contract committee will send them the message that unless they come up with a proposal that WE can live with contract negotiations are not coming to an END!
You have to vote on the contract first before anything is agreed upon, but before you can vote you must fill out a "GREEN CARD"!

You are absolutely right!! Why are we going to settle for 2% or 3%. We have waited all this time. We can not give up!! We should go back to that bargaining table until they hear us and no that we are serious in what we want!! I will definately be at theat meeting!!

3% doesn't pay union dues! they've already sunk over $30 million in a system to replace Transcore which DOES NOT WORK! They increased toll revenue by 60% with the toll increase of Jan 1. 2005. They've given their friends an average of 8% each year since the so called "freeze". Ask the question in negotiations, "anyone on the other side of the table who has only received one (1) pay increase in the last five years raise your hand please?" They broke the law when they stole our 4% pension pick-up in 2002. That's 20% each of us has given up since 2002! That's right. There's a law in the ILCS 720 that says in part the state of Illinois will pick up the pension of Toll Highway employees. Did anyone read about that law being repealed? We've received 1 pay increase in 5 years. Keep them at the table till hell freezes over. What have we got to lose?? They're lying about their financial status!
