For Those About To Rock!!!!!
Yes People we had our June 12th meeting

And I think we agreed to a Sweet tentative agreement and I must admit after 2+ years I still don't know if I believe it!

So how does 5%, 5%, 4% & 4% sound?
We also have a tentative agreement on vacation time, overtime, we think we came to a good resolution on the conversion from twice monthly to bi-weekly pay and other good stuff!!!

Why do I say tentative because you all haven't seen the synopsis yet and you will have that opportunity next Thursday, June 21st. There will be a presentation of the contract at CA and you will all be notified of what times will be available.

After the presentation if you signed your green card you will be able to vote on the contract-yes people ratified it with your votes and put it into motion!!!!

You didn't sign a green card you will still have the ability to do that and vote on Thursday!

After you have spoken with your votes the contract will then need to go before the board to be signed off on-we are looking at it going on the table at the end of June. Of course this is a democratic vote (for members who have signed green cards) so the majority will rule!

Once it goes the full gamut you could see your retro check in September!!!!

So, people, we have promised you there would be time for celebration and the time is now!!!!!

Let's get ready to Rock & Roll!!!!
Comments, complaints, gossip, rumors feel free to post whatever!!!!

This seems like lovely news. I am happy about that. Now, if we could only silence the MOUTH on the first floor of CA from spreading false rumors. Having issues with the union is anyones right. However, spreading lies intentionally to disrupt the possibility of some of us being able to look at this contract fair and balanced is unbelievable. The strangest part is that so many people are gullable enough to believe her. Everyone, please stop, take a deep breath and look at this contract for YOURSELF. Do you really think this OTHER PERSON is looking out for YOU? What do you think her possible motivation is? Yeah, I'm SURE she's worried about what kind of raise YOU get. Please think about that. Think about YOU and YOUR future here at the Tollway. Please. I don't know what this contract reads like, but I want to decide for myself. I would expect you to want an INTELLIGENT, OBJECTIVE look at this contract. THEN if you do not agree, you must vote the way YOU feel. Not the way someone has MADE you feel out of fear.
Thank you
First of all, the union negotiating team needs to be congratulated for their hard work and dedication to giving us an opportunity to vote on an excellent contract. Based on what I've been told you would have to be an idiot to vote "no". Yes I know that non-union members got a juicy pay increase (higher than what we've been offered) earlier this year and others have gotten one if not more increases over the last 4 years but this is an opportunity to lock in a very good pay increase and some job security for 4 years. And those non-union employees that got an increase this year aren't guaranteed one next year. There are going to be several individuals who will vote "no" no matter what the contract says. There are those out there who will never be satisfied. Listen, there will always be people at the Tollway getting better pay increases and preferential treatment. It happened in the past, it happens today, and it will happen in the future. It sucks, but that's life. As one top manager at the Tollway said; "If you don't like working here, than leave". Not really a motivating statement or one that shows thanks for the hard work of many employees, but what the heck, there's idiot managers also. We have to learn to work with them. The point is, this is a very decent contract. Read it, understand it, and vote. And as the Shadow suggested, don't listen to that person spreading false rumors and vote the way YOU feel.
AFSCME should provide all voting members with copies of the negotiating team's meeting minutes. There should be copies of what AFSCME originally asked for and what management's responses were. There should be a chronological event report which outlines the give and take in the negotiations.
There are some unconfirmed reports of ridiculous concessions that were made regarding the wearing of uniforms and how some pay grade titles were re-structured. As a member you should be guaranteed honesty from your Union.
Remember, AFSCME gives millions of dollars each year to political parties and their candidates. A whopping 98% of this money goes to Democratic candidates. Go to www.opensecrets.org. Click on "who gives" and look at "top donors". AFSCME is No. #1 in giving to Democratic candidates.
This is the same type of candidate that now sits in Springfield and who forced this labor movement upon us in the first place with no pay increases for the past 4.5 years. It's a game you see. Shut them down, make them run to a labor union, and then take their monthly dues to stay in power.
Like blind mice we follow. Whether you like it or not, all of the 200 members are now contributors to the Democratic Party. How does that make you feel? Is it worth holding your nose and putting a small pay increase in your pocket while wearing a discriminating outer garmet telling the whole world you're a proud, donating member to the Democratic Party? You'll have to decide.
John Kerry-not appearing to be a Democratic fan I can't help but to appreciate your choice of name! If you are so passionate about knowing what went on in negotiations and what is going on now-where have been and where are you now? You have questions come out come out where ever you are? You know where to find us!
FOR THOSE WHO KNOW THIS IS A CROCK...For now, take what you can get from this Democratic ATM. Then wait 4 years (or less) for this labor/management marriage to dissolve. The losers will still be losers and the political opportunists will begin their mass exodus with the Blago klan. Those with talent, ability and above all a conscience, will remain and move into new management positions with a new Administration, and bury these shakedown artists.
Since sweatshops were outlawed 60 years ago, no honest hard-working member of society has ever had to hide inside a labor contract to secure their gainful employment. On the other hand, if you were never honest and hard-working then this plan probably sounds right for you. Big labor unions are the ruination of America. Congratulations! Even the morons can now keep their jobs....
